A quarter of funds from the State Budget party spent on advertisement

Parliamentary political parties spent the majority of funds received from the State Budget of Ukraine for the payment of advertising materials. This is stated in the CVU report: "Anniversary of state funding: what for the parties spent half a billion hryvnia", which was implemented within the framework of the project "Doslivno".

For the year of state funding (from September 2016 to September 2017), the party collectively spent almost half a billion UAH (436 million), 407 million of which were the state budget funds.

The largest funds (128 million) were spent on advertisement in mass media (TV, radio, print media, billboards). There was spent more money on advertisement, than on wages and rent of premises taken together. The parties spent 57 million UAH (13%) on the salary, for the lease of premises - 46 million (11%). For expenditures and payment for services (purchasing of stationery, etc.) they spent 66 million (15%).

The largest percentage for advertisement was spent by the following parties: “the People's Front”, “Samopomich”, “Radical Party of Oleg Lyashko” and “Opposition bloc”. Party "Batkivshchina” spent most of the money on renting premises, Block of Petro Poroshenko "Solidarity" - on local branches.

«Чотири політичні сили витрачають державні кошти не на партійний розвиток, а на самопіар. Замість того, щоб розбудовувати місцеві осередки, проводити навчання партійців та працювати із виборцями, ці політичні сили скуповують рекламу, фактично викидаючи кошти платників податків на вітер. КВУ розробив зміни до законодавства, які забороняють партіям розміщувати рекламу за бюджетні кошти», - зазначив голова КВУ Олексій Кошель.

Present information based on analysis of the financial statements of political parties for the third and fourth quarters of 2016 and for the first, second, third quarters of 2017.
